Bean's
Café came about because of the concern and compassion of a woman,
who saw impoverished people eating out of garbage cans and dumpsters.
Bean's Café exists for people and is open because Anchorage is
a caring community. The State of Alaska made the building a reality.
United Way assists with food and facility expenses. The City provides
the land and some operating funds. Increasingly the crucial balance
of resources comes from the donations, small and large, of individuals
and organization who believe in the importance and necessity of Bean's.
We can't stay open without your support. Since 1979, Bean's Café's
mission has remained the same: meals for hungry people, an ear to listen,
and a place to go when there is no place else to go.
Sharing
your time as a volunteer, or participation
in special events, your money through financial
contributions, and your property through food
and material donations are all ways that you can assist us in fulfilling
this goal.
